Insect farming is the practice of breeding and raising insects for human consumption and other uses. Insects such as crickets, mealworms, and grasshoppers are high in protein, low in fat, and require significantly less water and land than traditional livestock. Insect farming has the potential to be a more sustainable and efficient way to produce food, as well as provide alternative sources of protein for people around the world. While still a relatively new concept, insect farming is gaining popularity as people become more interested in sustainable food sources.
